DHL uses new courier scanner

JAKARTA (JP): PT Birotika Semesta/DHL Worldwide Express has introduced the latest wireless technology to allow importers and exporters to capture and transmit data for real time shipment tracking.

The international courier said here on Friday that the new mobile wireless data scanner, the CatsEye, allowed couriers to scan shipment airbills and transmit the data, real-time from the customers' premises directly to DHL's global data network.

"This means that customers in Indonesia and recipients worldwide can log onto DHL's web site about 15 minutes after the courier has scanned the shipment and check on the status of their package," it added. (hen)
