DHL responds
With reference to Paul Charis' letter 'DHL charges twice' in The Jakarta Post, June 6, 1996, I would like to provide the writer with some background information.
As DHL Indonesia does not accept collect charges, Mr. Charis was billed by the shipper in the U.S. and not by DHL. Unfortunately, the "transport collect" sticker had not been removed from the shipment in the U.S., consequently our DHL staff in Bandung mistakenly charged Mr. Charis. After Mr. Charis brought the mistake to DHL Bandung's attention, contact was made with DHL USA to confirm payment and a refund was made to Mr. Charis on June 9, 1996.
DHL Indonesia apologizes for the inconvenience caused to Mr. Charis. DHL strives for excellent service worldwide and regrets this unfortunate error.
