DHL opens Bandung branch

JAKARTA (JP): Courier company DHL Worldwide Express opened a new branch office in Bandung on Friday in a move to improve services to its customers in West Java.

According to DHL's chief commissioner Rudi J. Pesik, the new branch cost Rp 4 billion (US$580,000).

DHL has also introduced to Bandung customers its improved shipment service to Europe, called Europe First.

Europe First, DHL said, promises customers a speedy and cost- effective service, including a pledge that a package would be delivered within 24 hours.

In further improving its business in Indonesia, DHL is currently developing a 1,400-square-meter warehouse facility worth $1.5 million at Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta airport and slatted for completion in mid-November.

DHL has operated in Indonesia for 20 years in partnership with PT Birotika Semesta. It currently has 70 branches throughout Indonesia and employs 700 people. (43/udi)
