Developers owe Rp 3.6b in taxes

TANGERANG (JP): Property tax arrears from developers of housing complexes and golf courses in the city have reached Rp 3.68 billion (US$334,545), an official said yesterday.

The head of Tangerang's property tax office, Junaidi, said the West Java provincial government would remind them that tax arrears should have been paid on Dec. 1 last year.

"West Java's Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs and Development Ukman Sutaryan will call them soon," Junaidi said.

Among the developers to be summoned included Modernland with tax arrears of Rp 1.1 billion, Jaya Real Properti Bintaro with Rp 1 billion, Bumi Serpong Damai with Rp 935 million, Kedaton housing complex with Rp 346 million and Gading Serpong with Rp 299 million, he said.

Junaidi said his office had repeatedly warned and sent notification letters to the developers but they had never received satisfactory responses. (41/jun)
