Deutsche Bank officially opened its new building, on Jl. Diponegoro, Central Jakarta, yesterday.
State Minister of Research and Technology B.J. Habibie (center), Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Heinrich Seeman (left) and Josef Ackerman (right), member of the Deutsche Bank Group board responsible for the Asia-Pacific region, opened the new building with a ribbon-cutting and plague-signing ceremony.
The opening ceremony was attended by customers and friends of the bank and was followed by a concert by renowned German chamber music ensemble Consortium Classicum.
Josef Ackerman said the opening of the building reflected Deutsche Bank's commitment to Indonesia and the bank's continued confidence in its future.
"We've been here for almost 30 years and like our building, we are here to stay," he said.
The 22-story Deutsche Bank Building is a landmark in the heart of the business district and incorporates innovative elements, such as below-floor air-conditioning and double-glazed windows.
It features a 12-meter-high lobby, Canadian slate, granite and aluminum interiors, state-of-the art trading floors and a modern vault built for the bank's securities and custody services.
The new building was commissioned by Deutsche Bank in 1993 to replace its previous eight-story building, which was at the same site.
The old building, completed in 1975, was in the same location as Deutsche Bank's first office in Jakarta, which opened in 1968. (08)
