Designer Ramli shows anniversary collection
JAKARTA (JP): Ramli will host a special series of fashion shows beginning tomorrow to mark his 22nd year as a designer.
Known for his rich embroidery, Ramli said last week the four- night gala, Trend Mode 1998, would be held at Hotel Borobudur Inter-Continental, Central Jakarta, until Monday.
He added the show was about peddling a "soft, very 90s" look encompassing lots of "clean embroidery and light silhouettes".
Ramli said there would be 50 models -- including former catwalk stars Titi Qadarsih and Rima Melati -- parading a collection of 160 costumes in light and wearable pastels.
"It will feature elegant and wearable designs. Colors are muted and lines are soft and fluid -- the designs of the sophisticated and smart woman who does not like to dress excessively," he said.
Representatives of several sponsors -- the National Foster Parent Movement, cosmetics firm PT Orinda Alam Ayu (Oriflame), Garuda Indonesia, television production house Premavisi -- hoped the event would promise fine Ramli fashion and style for the future.
Winner of the 1990 Upakarti fashion award, Ramli has shown his collections in the United States, several countries in Asia, Europe and Australia. His company, PT Ram Sarwigo, has coordinated local and international fashion shows. (02)
