Deportee gives birth at airport

TANGERANG: A deported Indonesian worker, coming home from Saudi Arabia, gave birth to a baby boy shortly after her plane landed at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at approximately 11 a.m. on Thursday.

The woman, identified as Siti Aisah bin Ali, 25, was returning home after she was deported by Saudi immigration in Jeddah for violating her stay permit.

Aisah, originally from Palembang, South Sumatra, had spent three years apparently working as a domestic employee in Jeddah. Her stay permit expired last year, but she did not return home, nor did she apply for a renewal, and continued working there until the immigration authorities located and deported her.

Upon arrival here, Siti Aisah, now the mother of a healthy 2.5 kilogram baby boy, was directly rushed to the airport's terminal B health clinic before finally being transferred to Tangerang General Hospital.

Aisah claimed that the father of her newborn is a man named Aminudin from Karawang, West Java who is currently working as a driver in Jeddah. --JP
