Depok police go on binge

DEPOK: The Depok Municipal Police destroyed 17,262 confiscated bottles of alcoholic liquor on Wednesday.

The liquor was confiscated from entertainment spots that lacked licenses to sell alcohol during police raids late in August.

"The other 2,855 bottles that are left have not been destroyed as we need them to help us find out where they got the liquor from," the head of the Depok Police's drug unit, Adj. Comr. Suharto, was quoted by Tempointeraktif.com as saying.

The alcoholic beverages destroyed included vodka and whiskey, with the alcohol content ranged from 14.7 percent to 20 percent.

During the same series of raids on night spots, the police also seized 3.5 kilograms of marijuana, 0.6 grams of heroin and 2.2 grams of methamphetamines. -- JP
