Depok, Cibinong lines join Bogor

BOGOR, West Java (JP): Telephone lines in Depok and Cibinong will be supervised by PT Telkom's regional office in Bogor from the beginning of next year.

The lines in the two areas are currently under the supervision of South Jakarta and East Jakarta respectively.

"The merger won't affect the pulse rate because they're still listed under Jakarta's tariff and the numbers won't change either," said the head of the Bogor Telecommunication Office, Sjahril, yesterday.

Changes under the new system will include the handling of repairs and customers' complaints, which will be coordinated by Bogor, said Sjahril.

The extended supervision authority given to Bogor is part of a major restructuring program of Telkom's Jakarta division, he said.

"The Tangerang office, for instance, will have their authority expanded to Serang and the Bekasi office will go through to Purwakarta, said Sjahril.

With the addition of Depok and Cibinong, the number of telephone lines administered by the Bogor office will rise to 265,000, almost double the current 145,000 lines, Sjahril said. (24/bsr)
