Dengue hits Yogya districts

YOGYAKARTA: Over 1,600 people have been treated for dengue
fever here, which has claimed 57 lives in the province this year.

The head of the local health office, Dr. Zuchari Dachlan, said
yesterday that the number of dengue cases this year was extremely
high even though Yogyakarta always saw a high number of patients
infected each year.

He said 1,290 people were infected last year, of which 42
died.

"In fact, based on our research, there is no district in
Yogyakarta which is free from dengue patients." (23)
