Dengue epidemic hits Jember

JEMBER, East Java: Eleven people have been admitted to various health centers in Jember regency because of dengue fever, Antara said.

Regency spokesman Chaidaroh Hasan blamed the spread of dengue on people drinking contaminated water from the river.

The Karangpring village in Sukorambi district is the worst affected area.

The health office sent officers to warn people not to drink untreated water from the river and also sent drinking water to affected villages. (emb)
