Dengue, diarrhea on rise in Mataram

MATARAM: The number of dengue fever and diarrhea cases have increased in Mataram over the last two weeks, with two deaths recorded so far and 66 people reported ill throughout the province.

Most of the ill were from the provincial capital Mataram, with 55 percent of them being under the age of 14.

The director of the West Nusa Tenggara health office's disaster prevention unit, Thamrin Hijaz, predicted on Friday that a high number of dengue and diarrhea cases would be recorded in February and March. -- JP
