Democrats want audited budget

BOGOR: The five members of the Democratic Party faction in the Bogor city council walked out of the body's plenary session on Tuesday to protest the late delivery of the 2004 budget audit.

"We cannot respond to the use of the 2004 budget without an audit on it. We don't want to fool the public," faction chairman Albiner Banjarnahor said.

Banjarnahor said administration officials had promised councillors they would give them the audit results in two earlier meetings on June 29 and July 5.

He said the delay smelt of foul play.

"It convinces us that regent Agus Utara Effendi did not perform his duty to us. We want the Corruption Eradication Commission to check out the administration," he said.

After the walkout, Agus promised the councillors still at the session that he would table the audit results soon. -- JP
