Demand for promise fulfillment

JAKARTA: A group of activists, calling themselves Indonesian
People, have established a new front in charge of the fulfillment
of promise known as "Barisan Penagih Janji".

Gandhi Sukardi, the initiator of the front's formation, said
Tuesday that it was intended mainly to remind people -- along
with community leaders, organizations, political parties and
central and regional governments -- to fulfill promises to
improve overall social conditions.

The group will periodically give people chances to present
their fulfillment of their promises in a forum to be held in
cities throughout the country, he sad.

"The main task of the front will be to distribute social
control for those having no opportunities for it," Gandhi said.

The first forum on demand for the fulfillment of promises will
be held soon at Jakarta Media Center on Jl. Kebun Sirih No.34,
Central Jakarta, he said. -- JP
