Defendant admits to drug charges
JAKARTA (JP): Ng Wie Hon, alias Awi, 51, pleaded guilty to selling Ecstasy pills at the West Jakarta District Court yesterday.
Awi, who has refused his right to legal representation, confirmed the prosecutor's charges and the testimonies of the two witnesses at the hearing presided by Enny M Sinaga.
Awi faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
The first witness, Djati Uarana Saragih, 38, a national police detective, told the court that he apprehended Awi on Dec. 22, 1995 at the Zodiac Discotheque in Glodok Plaza.
Djati said he had found 84 Ecstasy pills in Awi's car.
He said that an alleged buyer, Kwan Juh Hok, alias Ahok, 30, whom he arrested on the same date, told him that Awi was selling the drugs.
Ahok, the second witness, was tried separately yesterday by the same judges.
"Awi said he was supplied with Ecstasy pills from a man called Henky, whom we are yet to identify," Djati said.
The trial has been adjourned until next Wednesday. (26)
