Dede Liu takes IM title

JAKARTA (JP): National master Dede Liu obtained his international master (IM) title after beating Grand Master Ardiansyah at the 40th move in the 11th round of the second leg of the Gunadarma International Master Chess Tournament which was concluded yesterday.

With the victory, Dede collected a total match point of 7.5. For Ardiansyah, who's elo rating is 2,425, the loss was his second with the first being by Ruben Gunawan on Monday.

The title Dede earned will be officially awarded in Moscow next month during a FIDE congress.

With the conclusion of the tournament yesterday, Indonesia will add the number of its international masters to 11. (arf)
