Decision expected soon in Coke trial
JAKARTA: The South Jakarta District Court said on Wednesday it would announce on Jan. 19 its decision in a lawsuit filed by Japanese national Takasu Masaharu against soft drink bottling company PT Coca-Cola Indonesia.
Masaharu's lawyer, Ike Farida, said Coca-Cola Indonesia failed to provide a safe product to consumers as a bottle of Coca-Cola purchased by her client on Oct. 19, 2003, from a vendor in Bintaro, South Jakarta, contained a piece of mosquito coil.
She demanded the company be ordered to print warnings on its cans and bottles to check the contents before drinking.
Masaharu also is demanding a public apology from the company and about Rp 60 billion (US$6.74 million) in damages. -- JP
