Deceit behind awarding prizes

Now that the situation in the country is unstable, con-artists are everywhere, in addition to the rioters and provocateurs. A technique getting frequent use recently is to con people pretending to award prizes. A number of programs aired by ANteve, such as Famili 100 (Family 100) and Musik Mingguan (Weekly Music), are often used by these swindlers to profit from viewers.

To avoid more people falling victim to this scheme, allow me to call on the general public to refuse any request from anybody promising them prizes. The logic is that a genuine prize is freely awarded: So if anybody asks you to pay him or her, or give him something before you can get your prize, he is worthy of your suspicion.

Certainly you may use your own method to foil this scam in cases other than those related to ANteve programs. If anybody promises you a prize for which you must give something in return, you may rest assured that you are in fact being cheated.

We hope ANteve viewers in particular, and the community in general, will pay proper attention to this warning.
