Deadlock, TNI takes over

In view of the political situation following the poll, it has been forecasted that a prolonged confrontation among political parties will prevail, which could lead to chaos and disorder. And what is the consequence of this? According to some political observers, a state of emergency would most probably be declared.

This is so because, based on the 1945 Constitution (Article 12), the President is empowered with the authority to declare a state of emergency.

However, such a prediction is not absolutely likely, as we still have to wait until the vote counting is finished. All we have to do is continue to be watchful for any unexpected development.

So far, we are witnessing that there is not a single majority which makes two or more of the major parties to coalesce, and consensus could be difficult. As a result, it may lead to a deadlock in the election of a president, and a chaotic situation will prevail. Under such circumstances, the military (TNI) would be obliged to take over the lead to save the nation from experiencing national catastrophe, and, at the same time, to save the state ideology Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution.
