Dead smooth

TOKYO: Oops... Japanese visitors to the Mercedes-Benz stand at the recent Tokyo motor show say the stand looked like a graveyard.

It seems Mercedes went to great lengths, using wooden poles with words of welcome written down them in various languages.

Apparently to most Japanese, however, the poles were similar to burial messages used by Buddhists for their dearly departed.
