Days of strays numbered
BANDA ACEH, Aceh: Officials here say they are stepping up their campaign to hunt down stray dogs which have become increasingly rampant.
Zakaria Ibrahim, head of the provincial animal husbandry office, could not give an exact figure but said the number had grown to an alarming rate.
"We don't have concrete data about the number of stray dogs that need to be put to sleep, but our estimates put it in the thousands," he said as quoted by Antara.
He pointed out that the higher number of stay dogs there were, the greater likelihood of rabies spreading.
