Dayaks and development

I thank you for your coverage on my speech at a book launch at
Ibis Hotel in The Jakarta Post (Saturday, April 13, 1996) under
the heading Dayaks query govt development plan. However, your
reporter made an uncompromisable error in quoting my opinion. In
the sixth paragraph, for example, your reporter quoted me as
saying, "One consequence of the poorly coordinated development
program, ...the Dayak's practice of burning down forest without
realizing the environmental damage they were causing" is just the
opposite of what I said.

Secondly, the second paragraph from bottom says that I accuse
government officials is your reporter's personal interpretation
of my point on the process of the demolition of the longhouse in
West Kalimantan.
