Daughter suspected in mother's murder

SEMARANG: A 25-year-old woman is suspected of killing her mother by poisoning, police in Bruno Purworejo said.

The daughter, identified as GY of Brandong village, was arrested for murdering Fatmunarsih, Antara reported on Thursday.

The incident took place early on Wednesday. The victim, a 50- year-old rich widow, police said, went into convulsions after drinking tea made by her daughter.

Police quoted witnesses who said GY was angry after learning from her aunt that her mother was remarried and had another child.

GY, who was in Jakarta, immediately returned home and bought animal poison. She allegedly mixed it in her mother's tea the next morning. (anr)
