Data interchange for port
JAKARTA (JP): PT Electronic Data Interchange Indonesia (EDII) will soon operate to improve the transaction system at Tanjung Priok seaport.
EDII, established with an investment of Rp 10 billion (US$4.58 million), is equally owned by PT Sisindosat Lintasbuana, an information technology company affiliated with state-run PT Indosat, and PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II, the state-owned company assigned to manage a number of seaports, including Tanjung Priok.
Indosat's project manager for business development, Widya Purnama, told reporters before delivering a presentation at a seminar on electronics transactions here yesterday that the two companies will sign the join venture agreement next month.
He said that the new firm has procured software facilities from General Electric of the United States.
Freight forwarders, shipping, retail and health care firms, as well as their business partners are expected to be the customers of the new company, whose services will ease paperwork, thereby helping to facilitate the flow of goods at the port.
Charges for the service will include enrollment fees, monthly fees and volume utilization fees.(icn)
