Dancers trip up over grades

The opening ceremony will be a night to remember for high school students participating in marching bands and dance troupes.

But it could come back to haunt those who spent their time training at the expense of their schoolwork.

"The practices definitely had an effect," acknowledged Stella, 17, a student at Regina Pacis High School in the capital and a dancer in the ceremony.

"We practiced from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. three times a week. It was more than enough time to train."

She was coy when it came to disclosing how far her grades had fallen in the past few months.

"Well, she used to talk about her great grades, but she keeps quiet now," chimed in a classmate.
