Dana takes golf early lead

JAKARTA: Local competitor Dana Mahmud took the early lead in the 4th Pemuda Pancasila Cup at the Matoa Nasional Golf Course in Ciganjur, South Jakarta, on Tuesday, with a 6 under-66 (32, 34) from five birdies, including a string of threes on the 5th, 6th and 7th holes and highlighted by an eagle putt on the 18th, a report said.

Mahmud, a golfer with the Kapuk Indah Golf Club in North Jakarta, went out with a 32 on the front nine with bogey free round and went home with a 34 after a bogey putt on the par-3 15th. His eagle came when his second shot hit the green some five meters away from the cup and finished it with a perfect shot.

Denny Supriadi from the Sawangan Golf Club finished second behind the leader with a 5-under 67 (33, 34) after opening the round with a birdie and two other birdies in the 6th and 9th to go out with 3 under-33. He went home with three fine consecutive birdies in the 16th, 17th and 18th after a bogey putt on the par- 4 13th.

One stroke further back at 68 (34, 34) for third place was Swede Stephen A. Lindskog, who went out with three birdies and a bogey in the first nine and went into the clubhouse with another 34 from two birdies and bogeyless back nine.--JP
