Damaged banknotes
From Kompas
In answer to a letter regarding the withdrawing of salaries from BRI in Kompas on July 1, 1994 we would like to inform the public that those who happen to hold damaged/burnt banknotes can change their money at Bank Indonesia.
If after scrutiny the money proves to be genuine a change will be made based on the following:
a. A 100 percent exchange for overused banknotes.
b. A 50 percent exchange for banknotes which have 50 percent or less of their surface damaged or burnt. No exchange will be made for banknotes with more than 50 percent damage.
c. For banknotes with severe fire damage but still retaining their form can be changed with a letter from the police stating the reason of the burning.
