Da'i hails study on graft by police

JAKARTA: National Police chief Gen. Da'i Bachtiar praised on Thursday a study of police corruption, saying it would help the police eradicate the crime.

The study, conducted by Police Staff College (PTIK) students a few months ago, found corruption was widespread among the police, at every level.

"We will use the study as a starting point in our efforts to eradicate bribery and corruption within the institution. Our success will regain public trust in us," Da'i said at the graduation of 350 PTIK students.

Graduates were among those involved in the study, which was opposed by some high-ranking officers. -- JP
