DAI awards for recruitment

JAKARTA (JP): The Insurance Council of Indonesia (DAI) will
present awards to the country's top life insurance agents for
achievement in recruitment in 1999.

Chairman of DAI's life insurance division Angger Yuwono said
on Monday the awards ceremony would be held in Yogyakarta from
May 18 to May 19.

He said the number of life insurance agents grew from 50,000
as of the end of 1998 to 70,000 early this year.

Life insurance companies relatively unaffected by the crisis
booked an unaudited Rp 5.42 trillion (US$732 million) of total
premium income last year, from Rp 4.85 trillion in 1998. (cst)
