Culture park lacks audience

SURABAYA: Community interest in local culture is believed to
be on the decline here.

The head of the East Java Culture Park, Widjijanto, said the
continuing decline in visitors to the park was evidence of this
descent.

"We tried to make some innovations, but none of them have been
able to attract the attention of the public," he said as quoted
by Antara.

Widjijanto pointed out that the drop in attendance results in
a lack of enthusiasm from performers thus causing them to be
reluctant in performing traditional arts. (mds)
