CSIS launches two economic journals

JAKARTA (JP): Two economic journals featuring in-depth analyses of Indonesia will be issued by the Jakarta-based Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).

The first is the Bulletin of Economic Indonesian Studies, which analyzes the Indonesian economic situation, is published by the Indonesia Project at Australian National University in cooperation with CSIS.

The bulletin covers a wide range of subjects including the country's foreign debt, agricultural issues and industrial development.

The editorial board of the bulletin comprises several prominent economists such as Mubyarto from Gadjah Mada University who helped design Indonesia's antipoverty campaign, and Dr. Boediono, who is the director of research at the central Bank Indonesia.

The second journal is the Pacific Economic Outlook which will be published by the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC).

PECC is a tripartite platform consisting of academics, government officials, in their private capacities, and businesspeople.

PECC came into being in 1986 and was the genesis which helped create the 18-member Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).

The annual Pacific Economic Outlook contains an analysis of the Asia-Pacific region through economic outlooks of individual countries both in terms of their previous year performance and forecasts for the coming year. (mds)
