Crush the corruptors!

"Promise yourself that you won't fail the mandate entrusted to you by the people as their leader."

That was the message conveyed by President Megawati Soekarnoputri to hundreds of young people during the ceremony on Oct. 28 to commemorate Youth Pledge Day. It was a moral message which should be conveyed to the youth, who will lead this country in the future.

The essence of Megawati's speech was about corruption, collusion, and cronyism. Our economy has deteriorated because of these practices.

Eliminating corruption is not an easy task at all for Megawati. Eliminating this practice in Indonesia means changing a whole culture.

But no matter what, Megawati has to be able to achieve this -- not only in speech, but also through actions. She should not wait until the people are angered because these practices were not eradicated.
