Cruelty to elephants

I refer to your Sunday, Nov. 23 article in the "Leisure"
section about the plight of helpless elephants (Exploring the
forest on elephant back in Way Kambas).

I found the article horrendous and cannot believe you allowed
it to go to press. Newspapers like The Jakarta Post should be
trying to stop such actions, not print articles that seem to
condone them.

I cannot believe at the end of the article you actually
recommend people to visit such an awful place. Maybe the trainers
should be tied up and beaten with sticks. Then they might
understand the gravity of their cruelty to the elephants.

I'm sure I was not the only person who was sickened by reading
this article.
