Crouch to speak in Yogya seminar

YOGYAKARTA: Noted political scientist Harold Crouch of the Australian National University (ANU) is slated to speak in a seminar organized by the School of Social and Political Sciences at the Gadjah Mada University here on Tuesday.

Crouch plans to speak about The Experience of Democratic Consolidation in Malaysia in the one-day seminar entitled Democratic Consolidation in the Comparative Perspective.

Another foreign speaker, David G. Timberman of USAID, will speak about democratic consolidation in the Philippines, spokesperson of the organizing committee Novi Kurnia said on Monday.

In a press release made available to The Jakarta Post, Novi said that the seminar would be held to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the school.

The seminar, which will take place at the Graha Saba Pramana hall at the campus will also feature local speakers, including Ignas Kleden, Mochtar Mas'oed, Hadi Soesastro, Daniel Dhakidae, Anggito Abimanyu, and Daniel Sparingga. (sur)
