Crooks sought for killing maid

JAKARTA (JP): Police are still looking for a gang of four criminals who are believed to have killed a housemaid and kidnapped the wife and mother-in-law of a businessman during a burglary at a house in North Jakarta on Wednesday.

Police have questioned witnesses in a bid to compile a clearer description on the four men who killed Ati, 20 and kidnapped Linda, 47, and her mother Fung Yu Moi, 70.

Police said that Linda called home with her mobile phone a couple of hours after she was kidnapped. She did not say much except that she was in Lemahabang, Bekasi, West Java.

Police said they could not get more information from Linda as the phone call was terminated soon after she mentioned her whereabouts.

Police said it was one of Linda's daughters who first discovered that their house on Jl. Pluit Utara, Penjaringan had been burglarized.

She returned home late that night and found her home was in a mess and her three brothers and sisters were tied up in a bedroom.

She called the Penjaringan police after she found that the maid had been killed, and her mother and grandmother were missing.

Ati was found dead in the front garden. She had been stabbed and disemboweled.

Police said the four robbers, who arrived on motorcycles, stole a car and other valuables. (27/cst)
