Credit card crimes

I would like to thank you for your article Credit body seeks
firm laws (July 16) which referred to the Indonesian Credit Card
Association.

While the article generally reflected what was said during the
question and answer session accurately, there was one particular
statement in the fifth paragraph, first line, which needs
clarification. It read: "He said the related agencies often
conflicted in their approach to credit card crime."

During the press conference, no statements suggested there was
conflict between the related agencies. There were only statements
made implying that the related agencies, in this case, the
Central Bank (BI), the Police (POLRI), the Attorney General's
Office, Visa and MasterCard International have been and will
continue working together toward a more effective and unified
approach in handling credit card related crimes.

I certainly hope the above clarifies the possible
misinterpretation by related agencies concerned.

Vice Chairman
