Creating jobs to benefit RI

With respect to your front page article on May 19 regarding the government's intensified push to find employment for Indonesian workers abroad, it has always amazed me why the government has not made greater efforts to promote work for these people in Indonesia as opposed to abroad.

Case in point: My parents are in their late 70s and could do with home help in the form of servants to assist them in their daily lives. Due to the cost of property in the United Kingdom, they are unable to afford to maintain the space required to house any full-time help.

So my question is: Why does the government not do more to attract people like my parents to move to Indonesia to continue their retirement in a "help friendly" environment? If my parents moved to Indonesia to live out the rest of their lives, they would most likely employ one driver, one cook, two cleaners, two security guards and a gardener, so seven people or more. And they would be contributing to the Indonesian economy by buying housing, paying PLN electricity and food bills, banking, paying for telephone services, doctors, shopping, etc.

The point is that job creation and consequent wealth creation would be much greater for Indonesia if the jobs for Indonesians were to remain in country as opposed to being exported.
