Covey center announces new name

JAKARTA (JP): The Covey Leadership Center for Indonesia announced its new name yesterday resulting from its parent company's merger with Franklin Quest, a major provider of productivity materials and services which has 120 retail stores in the United States.

Now called Franklin Covey Organization Services, the company, which offers leadership courses based on Stephen R. Covey's much- acclaimed book The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, is aiming to become a powerful leadership organization with more networks worldwide, said Henk T. Sengkey, an owner of PT Dunamis Intermaster which holds Covey's sole license in the country.

"At the early stages here, we hope to be able to market a great number of Franklin's products, such as its well-known daily organizers," Henk told The Jakarta Post at the inauguration ceremony yesterday.

Franklin's retail stores were renamed Franklin Covey: The Seven Habits Store after the merger was signed last January.

David Covey, one of Stephen's sons, attended yesterday's event.

According to Nugroho Supangat, an executive of Covey Indonesia, the merger was aimed at combining Covey's and Franklin's products for the benefit of people active in the seven habit system.

"After participating in the seven habit training course, many people asked: What's next? We hope participants can now practice their knowledge from the training by using Franklin products, such as their time management organizers," Nugroho said.

The seven habits three-day training course costs US$860 per person and includes food and accommodation.

The center also plans to launch a new eight-hour course at $275 per person beginning in October. (bsr)
