Court vows to erase graft

JAKARTA: The Constitutional Court has declared a commitment to ensure that it is free of corruption practices.

In a modest ceremony that was attended by a number of state officials on Wednesday, the Court judges pledged not to be involved in graft, while launching a road map on their commitment.

Constitutional Court president Jimly Asshidiqie said the court must be a graft-free zone because of its important role and function in the country.

"We will do our best to make the Constitutional Court clean and independent," he said.

Set up last year, the Court's main jobs include reviewing laws and settling legal disputes, such as cases during the recent legislative and presidential elections. -- JP
