Court rejects Fahmi, Marzuki lawsuit

JAKARTA: The West Jakarta District Court threw out on Friday a lawsuit filed by former Golkar members Fahmi Idris and Marzuki Darusman against the party's executive board over their dismissal.

The judges ruled that the lawsuit was premature because the two sides had yet to exhaust all of the avenues to resolve the dispute out of court.

Responding to the court ruling, a lawyer for the plaintiffs, Yulianto Syahyu, said his clients would file an appeal.

Fahmi and Marzuki were dismissed from the party about 10 days after announcing their support for then presidential candidate Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in defiance of the party's order. Susilo won the presidential election and appointed Fahmi manpower minister. -- Antara
