Course on maid regulations opens

South Jakarta Mayor H. Pardjoko wants mayoralty officials, district and subdistrict heads to popularize the city administration's ruling No. 6 of 1993 on housemaids.

"We have to popularize the regulations among the mayoralty officials, as well as the public, because the ruling is relatively new," Pardjoko, who opened a course on regulations on domestic helpers, said.

Dozens of officials from the district and subdistrict offices in the mayoralty participated in the first course to be held in South Jakarta.

The ruling regulates the obligations and rights of housemaids, their employers and the agencies who recruit the domestic helpers.

Future courses will be conducted at each district office. (has)
