Councilor charged

DILI, East Timor: Prosecutors are seeking a four-year prison term for a Manatuto regency councilor accused of making a "molotov cocktail" bomb for a demonstration last year.

"He should be held responsible for his subversive activities," prosecutor Indro Pramono was quoted by Antara as saying on Thursday.

The defendant's attorney, Arnoldus, said in a previous court session that the councilor only planned on making a bomb but that he had not actually carried it out.

The prosecutor also demanded a 3.5-year prison term for another defendant, who allegedly commissioned the accused to make the bomb. (31)
