Councillor to launch newspaper

JAKARTA: Jakarta councillor Posman Siahaan of the Unity and
Justice Faction announced on Monday that he would soon launch a
newspaper to join the highly competitive media business.

The newspaper, to be called Reporter, is expected to be an
independent newspaper despite his political activities, Siahaan
said at a press conference.

Posman added that he and his family members were the sole
shareholders of the paper.

Meanwhile, chief editor Raja Parlindungan Pane said that
Reporter, which will officially hit the newsstands on Wednesday,
would contain 40 percent news articles and 60 percent feature
stories.

The planned 16-page daily expects to have a print run of
between 4,000 and 5,000 copies a day. Reporter has allegedly
secured a deal with property company PT Sumarecon Agung Tbk to
publish the company's advertisements. -- JP
