Councillor held for alleged fraud

BANDARLAMPUNG, Lampung: Lampung Police said on Tuesday that they had arrested Slamet Supriyadi, an executive with a local financial services company as well as a politician, on fraud charges.

Slamet, the managing director of CV Graha Artha Masindo (GAM) in Metro municipality, Lampung, who is also a councillor on the Metro municipal council, was arrested on Monday along with dozens of employees for allegedly operating an illegal loan scheme under the guise of savings and loans cooperative.

During the operation, Lampung Police also confiscated four filing cabinets, client lists, savings and transfer receipts, dozens of computers, a television set, three motorcycles and two Espass vans, said Lampung Police chief Brig. Gen. Rasyid Ridho on Tuesday. -- JP
