Council wants BP Parkir head fired

JAKARTA: The City Council has recommended that the city administration dismiss Yani Mulyadi, the head of the city's parking management agency (BP Parkir), for his failure to punish Secure Parking, the city's biggest private parking operator.

Posman Siahaan, a member of the council's Commission A for legal affairs, told detik.com on Wednesday that the agency should discipline the private operator immediately for unlawfully raising its rates in June.

The public will naturally suspect a secret agreement has been made between the agency and the operator, he said.

"We are recommending that the governor dismiss the head of the agency if he cannot settle the matter as soon as possible," he said, adding that the agency had lost money under Yani's management.

Last year, instead of contributing income to the city budget, the agency booked a deficit of Rp 800 million (approximately US$97,200).--JP
