Council speaker to be questioned

PURWOKERTO, Central Java: Local police are slated to question on Saturday Banyumas Regency Council Speaker Tri Waluyo for his alleged assault and land swindle, Banyumas Police chief Lt. Col. Imam Basuki said.

"We will question him as a witness in a land dispute case involving a 1,000 square meter plot of land and a house on Jl. A. Yani in Purwokerto," Imam said.

According to the police officer, Tri was also involved in a slight altercation with officials from a local court who were going to execute the property earlier on Monday.

Police have obtained permission from the Central Java Governor to question the councilor, Imam added.

Tri Waluyo has defended Monday's action saying that he was responsible for defending his fellow PDI Perjuangan cadre who was still living on the property. (45/edt)
