Council endorses Budget

BOGOR (JP): The Bogor mayoralty council endorsed on Thursday a 2000 city budget of Rp 85.04 billion in a plenary session led by council speaker M. Sahid.

Twelve council factions agreed to approve the mayoralty- proposed budget, which was presented by Mayor Iswara R. Natanegara in a session on March 15.

The new budget will prioritize development and restoration in the city, such as the construction of a new subterminal in Bubulak village, West Bogor, which is set to cost around Rp 4 billion.

Other sectors to be considered include education, culture, health, environment as well as manpower and job opportunities.

"I hope that things will be better this year. Economic growth in the city last year was down 16.65 percent from 5.05 percent in 1998 due to the prolonged economic crisis," Iswara said. (24/edt)
