Council differs on report

BOGOR: The Justice Party faction of Bogor City Council has rejected the accountability report of Mayor HR Iswara Natanegara, saying that the administration had failed to deal with chronic traffic congestion and to curb rampant corruption.

The faction is the only one of 12 on the Council to have rejected the report. Faction speaker Ahmad Ru'yat said that although many of the administration's projects had been completed, many more were merely disappointing.

"Corruption is still rampant which has had an adverse impact on the development of the municipality, where many of the projects are not in line with regulations on environmental and city planning," he said.

Separately in the day, Bogor administration secretary Dewi Kurnia told the City Council that the Mayor would not run for the next mayoral election. -- JP
