Corpses found in rivers

JAKARTA (JP): The body of a long-haired man recovered from the Kali Irigasi River, Tangerang, last Friday morning remains unidentified at the morgue at Tangerang General Hospital, a morgue official said on Monday.

According to the city police, the corpse found wrapped in a plastic bag had been dead for at least 24 hours and was starting to decompose.

The victim, who was about 1.65 meters tall and dressed in a pair of blue jeans, was found with wound marks on his neck and stomach. There were tattoos on his arms.

Police initially identified the man as Iwan Gunawan, 17, a resident of Kp. Dukuh, Tegal, Central Java, from an identity card found on the body. Several hours later Iwan showed up at the morgue.

Another male corpse was found floating in a river in Kp. Pulo Tihama, Bekasi, on Friday morning. City police officers believe the victim was murdered due to severe wounds on his body. (01)
