Corpse findings shock locals

JAKARTA (JP): Residents of Cempaka Putih area in Central Jakarta and Depok were shocked on Thursday with the finding of two corpses.

Cempaka Putih subprecinct police chief Comr. Yohannes Lotto said a city public cleaning service worker discovered the body of a man who was later identified as 24-year old Suparman, an employee of a private company who lived in Pondok Cabe Udik subdistrict in Tangerang, at around 11 a.m. in Cempaka Putih park.

Lotto suspected that Suparman had committed suicide by drinking insect poison as foam was found around his mouth.

The other body of an unidentified woman, was found afloat on Ciliwung River in the Depok subdistrict of Tirta Jaya.

Brig. Supratman of Depok Police, who sent the body to Cipto Mangukusumo Hospital morgue, said that the woman, aged in her 50s, might have died four days before as the corpse had already begun to decay. (01)
